Emily Lawhead

Emily is Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City. She received a PhD in the History of Art & Architecture and a certificate in New Media & Culture from the University of Oregon in 2022. Her research explores intersections of contemporary art and technology with an emphasis on interactive digital art. She is also a Digital Futures Scholar with the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures.

Previously, Emily earned an MA in Museum Studies from the University of San Francisco and has worked with curatorial, collections, and publications departments at institutions including the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (Eugene, Oregon), Albright-Knox Art Gallery (Buffalo, New York), Contemporary Jewish Museum (San Francisco, California), and the National Japanese American Historical Society (San Francisco, California).
